Is the Hip Hop Industry Dirtier Than the Dope Game?

KISSING FOES DEBUT AT NUMBER 3

The soundtrack to Disney's "Hannah Montana" holds on to the throne of The Billboard 200 for the second week in a row, selling 203,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Sales of the set, which features music from Miley Cyrus, fell of 28% from last week's No. 1 debut with 281,000.

"The Greatest Songs of the Sixties" by Barry Manilow enters at No. 2, just behind "Hannah Montana" with 202,000 copies. The Arista set is the singer's second top two debut this year, as "The Greatest Songs of the Fifties" bowed at No. 1 in February.

The combined powers of Birdman and Lil Wayne yield a No. 3 debut for "Like Father, Like Son" (Cash Money), which moved 176,000. Birdman, aka Baby, has only been in the top 10 once before as a solo act, with 2005's "Fast Money" (No. 9). Lil Wayne has racked up five prior top 10 albums, including 2005's "Tha Carter II" (No. 2).

After debuting at No. 3 last week, John Legend's "Once Again" (G.O.O.D. Music/Columbia) slips to No. 4 with 115,000 copies, a sales hit of 50%. Justin Timberlake's Jive effort "FutureSex/LoveSounds" descends 4-5 with 86,000 (-3%). My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade" (Reprise), which came in as runner-up to "Hannah Montana" last week, slides to No. 6 with 86,000 on a 64% sales decrease.

The Who's Universal/Republic album "Endless Wire," its first studio set since 1982's "It's Hard," cracks the 200 at No. 7 with 81,000. It is also the band's best charting week since 1981's "Face Dances" peaked at No. 4.

Another veteran rock act, Meat Loaf, earns chart ink this week with "Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose," which debuts at No. 8. The Virgin set sold 81,000, providing Loaf his best charting week since 1993's smash hit "Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell" reached No. 1. His last studio set, 2003's "Couldn't Have Said It Better," topped out at No. 85 and spent just four weeks on the chart.

"American Idol" season five finalist Kellie Pickler's "Small Town Girl" (BNA) opens at No. 9 with 79,000. The album also crowns the Top Country Albums tally.

Back on The Billboard 200, the Deftones round out the top tier with "Saturday Night Wrist" at No. 10 (76,000). The band's last Maverick album, a 2003 self-titled set, debuted at No. 3. Other big debuts this week include Pitbull's sophomore set "El Mariel" (TVT), which moved 48,000 copies to land No. 17. Christian artist Jeremy Camp's Tooth & Nail album "Beyond Measure" bows at No. 29 with 31,000, his best charting and sales week yet.

Overall CD sales are up 6.4% from last week's count and down 2% compared to the same week a year ago at 10.67 million units. Sales for 2006 are down 5% compared to 2005 at 444.2 million units.
