OUR WEEKLY HIP HOP CHARTS

In this week's Hip-Hop Charts, Jay-Z shows us what he's got, Snoop Dogg gets that "blue carpet treatment," and 2Pac's still able to move impressive units.

Debuting on the Hip-Hop charts this week at No. 1 is Jay-Z. The Island Def Jam prez is back again to throw some Brooklyn flavor in the rap game, as his single "Show Me What You Got" continues to dominate the airwaves. However, despite the expectations of him selling over 800K the first week, Kingdom Come has taken the first week numbers to 680,000, clearly surpassing gold status.

Debuting at No. 5 this week is Snoop Dogg. The blazin' new single featuring R. Kelly, "That's That Shit," is a heavy hitter on the radio and video airplay, contributing to the 265,000 discs sold for week one. Alongside the R. Kelly collabo, Blue Carpet Treatment also features Akon, Young Jeezy, Ice Cube, and others.

Up next is Tupac, debuting on the charts at No. 9 this week. It seems as if Pac has enough material to last for the next three decades, but it has been rumored that Pac's Life will be the last full-length release. The numbers have rounded off at 159,000.

Slipping hard body to No. 13 this week is The Game. After enjoying the number one spot on the charts last week, Game has lost his clout, but has still finished off with 134,100 discs after two weeks. The Compton rapper is at the tip of official gold status, with 493,100 copies sold for Doctor's Advocate.

Not moving an inch on the charts this week is Ludacris, holding on to No. 35. After 9 weeks on the move, the ATL rap star has banged it out with 765,600 units sold. This week, "Chris Lova Lova" has bagged a total of 49,600 CDs.

Holding the same position on the charts as last week is Diddy, clinging to No. 43 this week. It's been 6 weeks, and Diddy is still climbing for the gold, with 41,400 representing the week-in total. To date, Press Play has managed 369,300 copies.

Dropping twenty-four positions on the charts this week is Lil' Wayne and Birdman, landing hard at No. 44. The total for Like Father Like Son reads off at 338,600, as the 7-day cycle has ended at 38,200.

Also tumbling twenty-four seats this week is Jim Jones, taking a kufi smack at No. 49. Hustler's P.O.M.E has been doing considerably well for indie, but hasn't lived up to the hype of the single, "We Fly High." However, 182,900, the total for the LP, is still a pretty good number, as the numbers for week #3 have rounded off at 32,200.

Hitting up No. 76 this week is Fat Joe. The rapper from South Bronx's Trinity Avenue is back with Me Myself & I, which has taken a terrible nosedive from last week's No. 14 position on the charts. "Make it Rain," the single featuring Lil' Wayne, has been all dried up, as the numbers for Joe read off at 20,600 this week, bringing the total to 81,200.

Switching gears, Beyonce climbs all the way to the top, Akon "smacks" the charts up Justin Timberlake comes up, Fergie can't compete, and John Legend continues on. Beyonce is riding high off her hit single "Irreplaceable," which has taken B' Day all the way to No. 6 on the charts, compared to last week's No. 9. Her sales have increased to 173,300 this week, in comparison to last week's 68,000. To date, the album has made off with 1,397,500 copies. Hitting up the No. 8 spot this week is Akon. The songwriter behind the past hit "Locked Up" is back again with his second solo LP, Konvicted. The singer from Senegal has pushed out the hits "Smack That," and "I Wanna F*** You" which have pulled together to round up 448,200 copies after two weeks on the charts. This week, Akon has finished off with 163,700 discs sold. Taking the No. 11 seat this week is Justin. "My Love" is still doing well, contributing to the 138,300 copies sold this week. In total, JT has banged it out at 1,808,300. Losing the race at No. 25 this week is Fergie. Once following Beyonce's trail, Ferg has slipped eight seats on the charts this week to No. 25, with 77,100 discs sold. Dutchess is sitting tight at 655,100. Coming in at No. 28 this week is John Legend. To date, Legend has moved 532,800 units, with the week-in total reading off at 62,900.

Next week, look out for Clipse and the Ying Yang Twins to make an appearance on the charts.
