LUMIDEE BECOMES A YOUNG AMBASSADOR!
Mach 1/TVT Recording Artist Lumidee has been name Youth Ambassador for the New York Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation's 2007 Arthritis Walk.
The annual nationwide event occurs in May during national Arthritis Month, raising funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation's leading cause of disability. The Manhattan Arthritis Walk will take place on Sunday, April 29, at Battery Park.
I was fourteen years old when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, stated Lumidee. At nineteen years old, the doctors said I would never walk. I worked hard and all that hard word paid off when I was able to dance in my
latest music video. I want to give other young people the confidence they need to stop this disease from controlling their lives and ask everyone to come out and join the fight against arthritis by participating in the 2007 Arthritis Walk.
Lumidee represents what can be achieved by young people with arthritis, stated Jay B. Adlersberg, M.D. 2007 Battery Park Arthritis Walk Chairman, ABC-TV's Health and Medical Reporter, and rheumatologist. We are proud to have her as our Youth Ambassador for this year's walk. We hope that her participation will inspire the 300,000 young people suffering from arthritis in our country.
Lumidee's new CD, Unexpected, is scheduled for release on April 17th. A native of Spanish Harlem, Lumidee first came to the attention of the public when her smash hit Never Leave You (Uh Oooh, Uh Oooh) reached the no. 3 slot on Billboard¹s Hot 100 in 2003. Her current single, She's Like The Wind, featuring Terror Squad member Tony Sunshine, is a hot remake of the Patrick Swayze cut from Dirty Dancing fame and is currently at 46 on the Billboard Hot 100. Unexpected also features tracks with Shaggy, Jim Jones, N.O.R.E., Snoop and TVT labelmate Pitbull.
