WHAT THE? G-UNIT EMPLOYEE CHARGED WITH CHAIN SNATCHING!!!
According to Courant.com, the incident took place early this morning at 1:50 a.m. today near 36 High Street in Hartford. Police say Dwayne McKenzie fired a .40 caliber Glock during an argument with Adolfo Yepez, 25, who stole McKenzie's $100,000 platinum chain with diamonds.
Yepez, 25, is charged with third-degree robbery.
Both men are free on bond and are scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Hartford on Aug. 14, police said. The platinum chain with diamonds and the Glock are at police headquarters.
"We are not going to tolerate people, whoever they are, firing any kind of fire arm randomly out in the city of Hartford," said police spokeswoman Nancy Mulroy. "It was fortunate no one was injured."
Officers working a special detail downtown were summoned to the scene by people who saw McKenzie fire the Glock among a group of 10 to 20 people, Mulroy said.
Officers subdued McKenzie, who has a permit for the gun, and found the gun in his front pants pocket. He told police he hadn't fired it and said the gun would have all 16 rounds, according to Mulroy. But when police checked, the gun was missing three rounds, Mulroy said.
McKenzie told police Yepez pushed him and stole his chain during the argument, Mulroy said. Yepez told police McKenzie pulled out a gun and waved it in the air during the argument. He said he started running and heard a blast as he ran.
Yepez ran into the path of a police sergeant, who took Yepez into custody and recovered the chain, Mulroy said.
