Jennifer Lopez has become a mother for the first time - after giving birth to a boy and a girl in New York. The children - fathered by the singer's husband Marc Anthony - were born early on Friday (22Feb08) at the North Shore University Hospital in Long Island, just eleven minutes apart. The girl was born at 12:12am weighing five pounds seven ounces (2.47 kilograms), with the boy born at 12:23am, weighing in at a heavier six pounds (2.72 kilograms). Simon Fields, Lopez's representative, tells People.com, "Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon." The couple went public with the baby news during a concert in Miami, Florida late last year (07). Lopez' father confirmed his daughter was expecting twins last month (Jan08). Lopez was reported to have checked into the medical facility on Wednesday (20Feb08) to prepare for the impending birth. The as-yet-unnamed tots are the fourth and fifth children for Anthony, who has three children from previous relationships.
A free concert featuring R&B crooner Akon took a violent turn Wednesday (Feb. 20) as authorities struggled to maintain order among upset fans.
According to Reuters, the violence occurred after a fire alarm was pulled during the show, which took place at the Fields Shopping Mall in Copenhagen.
Some 2,000 to 3,000 people were on hand for the concert and latecomers were turned away at the door, as Fields director Jens Geppel admitted that a larger crowd than expected turned out to see the 34-year-old entertainer.
"It was a free concert and we knew that many people would come, but there were a lot of people there, more than we had expected," Geppel told Reuters, adding that 1,000 people were let into the concert area of the mall, while others were forced to watch from afar, as Akon started his set.
The fire alarm, which ultimately turned out to be false, sounded during the third song Akon performed.
Soon after, police began evacuating fans, who began protesting. It was at that point that officers fought several dozen disappointed fans who threw bottles and rocks at them after the evacuation.
Police arrested eight people involved in the riot and witnesses told Reuters that emergency services had to treat a number of others injured in the turmoil.
Despite the violence, no serious injuries were reported.
Efforts are currently being made by the Danish mall to analyze what had gone wrong at the show, Geppel said.
SCOTT STORCH ORDERED TO PAY 500,000 OVER A DAMN HOME LOAN!!!
A manager and record label executive won a judgment against hit producer Scott Storch, who was sued for failing to pay back a loan to prevent the foreclosure of his home in 2003.
David Menefield, owner of the LA Confidential label and former manager of rapper Nocturnal, filed a lawsuit against Storch in May of 2007.
Through his attorney Bret Lewis, Menefield claimed he lent Storch's Tuff Jew Productions $100,000 dollars to prevent the foreclosure of his home, when Storch was experiencing financial difficulty in 2003.
Storch never repaid the original loan and reneged on other portions of the agreement, including four promised tracks for Menefield's artist, which were valued at $100,000 dollars a piece.
A judge sided with Menefield on February 13th, ruling that Storch must pay $509,717, which includes the $100,000 principal amount plus a total of $400,000 for the four tracks and attorney fees.
"Scott Storch never had the courtesy even to call me and speak to me directly about this matter after I asked to be repaid," Menefield told sources. "I had to hire my tough Jewish lawyer Bret Lewis to beat the $509,717.50 from Scott Storch and Tuff Jew Productions in court.
Representatives for Scott Storch could not be reached as of press time.
