WYCLEF PLEADS FOR THE HAITANS TO STOP WILDING!
| The Haitian native and music artist, Wyclef Jean, is pleading with his people to stop the violence. According to Reuters, Wyclef recorded a radio ad denouncing crime and asking his fellow Haitians to work towards improving the country. Sponsored by the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Haiti, the ad has been airing on Haitian radio stations several times a day. “If you love Wyclef, that means you love Haiti. So you should not be raping women, kidnapping people and children, because there can be no excuse for doing so,” Wyclef says in their native Creole dialect, continuing, “I reject these evil practices.” Haiti is overwhelmed by violence and crime and it has recently gotten worse. 36 people have apparently been kidnapped for ransom in March alone, with 30 in February. Wyclef was appointed goodwill ambassador for the country by Haitian president Rene Preval. U.N. Police spokesman said “All kinds of Haitians, the good guys as well as the bad guys, have a lot of appreciation for Wyclef for what he represents as a Haitian,” continuing, “So they would be more likely to be receptive to Wyclef’s message because they are all proud of him.” |
WAS IT FOUL PLAY IN SEAN LEVERT DEATH?!
TMZ has learned that singer Sean Levert was physically restrained by jail guards right before he died.
Staff at the Cuyahoga County Jail tell us Levert was "out of control" and "hallucinating," forcing them to place him in a restraining chair, because he was a danger to himself. The jail's warden Kevin McDonough says Levert was cooperative and "went willingly" when jail staff bound his wrists and shackled his feet.
The Cuyahoga County Coroner tells us Levert's body showed no signs of physical trauma, nor do they suspect foul play. They are currently awaiting toxicology results -- those will take four to six weeks to come back.
Sean reportedly suffered from high blood pressure. In a statement issued yesterday, the Levert family says "There is no song that can capture the loss that we have in our hearts."
