Former Los Angeles drug kingpin “Freeway” Rick Ross recently secured Snoop Dogg to score the soundtrack for his upcoming Nick Cassavetes-directed biopic, and now it appears he’s enlisted some even bigger star power.
The notorious drug dealer-turned-community advocate recently posted a photo of himself arm-in-arm with Jamie Foxx on his Facebook page, accompanied by an ambiguous caption hinting that the ‘Ray’ actor may be depicting Ross in the film about his life.
“Do we look alike?” reads the photo caption. “You have to wonder did I just give him the script to read so we can discuss him playing Rick Ross?”
The BoomBox spoke with Ross about the photo, and he confirmed that he was indeed taking the necessary steps to lock down Foxx for the role.
“We were discussing my movie,” he explained. “I’m doing it independent, I turned down all the big wigs in Hollywood because I’m different from most people. I’m my own man, I don’t really take orders. I just didn’t want to do the [movie the] way they wanted me to do it, and they told me I couldn’t do it the way I’m doing it right now. They told me that Nick Cassavetes wouldn’t write it, that he wouldn’t direct it. He wrote the script and he’s slated to direct it. And now I’m gonna get Jamie Foxx to play my role.”
Ross spoke with us at length about the film, and the various struggles he’s faced since being released from prison in 2009. Check back for further updates
