Janet Jackson has fuelled speculation she is set to join Simon Cowell on the judging panel of The X Factor Usa. There are certainly plenty of empty seats on the hit TV talent show, after Cowell recently axed Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul, as well as Welsh host Steve Jones.
Superstar names such as Mariah Carey and Beyonce have been linked with the show, though it appears Jackson has joined that list after a certain interview with Anderson Cooper, which airs on Monday (February 20, 2012). The iconic pop songstress appeared to be caught off guard by Cooper’s line of questioning concerning the X Factor, and awkwardly said, “Oh my God.No I’m not a judge on The X Factor”. When Cooper probed. “You’re not currently a judge on The X Factor”, Janet responded, “No, I am not, but that’s all I really think I should say”, with Anderson adding: “Intriguing, I will say. Intriguing”. Meanwhile, it’s been suggested that former Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland will not be returning to the British version of the show, after she failed to connect with audiences on the last series. A source told the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper, “Kelly has got to go. She was not right for the show. The producers didn’t like her and her commitment level wasn’t there. There’s an understanding she didn’t work on the panel”. The singer reportedly “annoyed production staff with her diva attitude”, which included flying to Miami and leaving her contestants to prepare for the live shows alone
The UK panel of judges also includes Louis Walsh and Tulisa Contostavlos, though a replacement for Rowland is yet to be announced.
