NICKI MINAJ DEBUTS AT #1 WITH 253,000 COPIES SOLD!

Nicki Minaj collected her second consecutive No.1 album this week, as ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded’ crashed to the top of the Billboard Albums Chart. The album sold 253,000 copies in its first week of sales, easily enough to oust Madonna’s Mdna, which suffered one of the biggest decline in sales, ever.

Madonna’s record entered at No.1 last week, but she sold just 48,000 copies in the second week to fall to No. 8 on the chart. It represented an 87 per cent drop in sales, the largest in SoundScan history, according to the Chicago Tribune. It was a familiar figure at No.2, with Adele selling 153,000 copies of her sophomore record ’21’ – a rise of 26 per cent for its 59th week in the chart. No.3 belonged to country trio Rascal Flatts, whose album ‘Changed’ sold 130,000 copies. Brit boy band One Direction completed the Top.5 with their album ‘Up All Night’. It wasn’t all good news for Simon Cowell’s group this week though, having learnt that a Californian band with the same name are suing them to the tune of around $1 million. The Americans claim they contacted Cowell’s Syco Entertainment to alert him of their name, but were ignored.

Minaj is likely to keep her position at the top of the charts next week, as the only new faces will be blues rock veteran Bonnie Raitt and Florence And The Machine’s Unplugged album.
