Regina King is the latest Hollywood starlet to land a new gig this pilot season.
The “Southland” star has just joined the cast of ABC‘s new pilot, “Divorce: A Love Story.”
Based on an Israeli format, the multi-camera comedy will tell the story of a recently divorced couple (played by Jason Jones and Andrea Anders) who can’t live with or without each other. King’s character, Cassandra, is a dental hygienist and friend of the on-again-off-agin couple.
According to Deadline, King’s new show is a backup position just in case “Southland” is canceled. However, if the show is picked up, she will continues on with her role as Det. Lydia Adams an the TNT drama.
“Of course we want [Southland] to come back,” she said in a recent interview. “But there are just certain things that [make us think], ‘Are we?’ No one’s told us that we weren’t, but there are enough things that haven’t happened to question, ‘Are we?’”
Looks like Ms. King is lining up her dominos for whichever outcome. Win-win situation for her! We can’t knock the hustle.
